The autumn-winter season causes a lot of problems for people who like to play sports and lead an active lifestyle. If we chill and finish our body, it is very easy for us to get seriously ill. Does this mean, however, that we must give up any physical activity during this time? This is by no means necessary – all you have to do is get the right clothes. Thermoactive underwear deserves special attention here. This highly functional garment is desired by all athletes. While the word underwear can be associated with more intimate pieces of clothing, in this case it is a wide range of sportswear. It usually consists of panties, gaiters and a T-shirt. The latter may have long or short sleeves depending on our preferences.

What is the difference between thermoactive underwear and thermal underwear?

Although these two terms are often used interchangeably, it applies to two different types of clothing. Each of them has a specific function. In the case of thermal underwear, it is primarily about providing our body with warmth. It must effectively protect against cold and prevent chilling. In addition, it offers us better protection against wetting and wind. Such underwear is made of thicker materials with a dense structure. In this way, they effectively maintain body temperature. Most often we will meet models produced using wool, cotton or a certain mixture of these two fibers. It is worth noting that it does not drain moisture from the skin. This means that it is completely unsuitable for people practicing outdoor sports. Use it only when you need to protect yourself from the cold.

In turn, thermoactive underwear also offers the possibility of moisture transport to the outside. It will not warm our body – it will only keep the heat we generate and at the same time stop the cold outside. We will only experience its full potential during sports. Such clothing very often consists of two layers. Unlike thermal underwear, it is made of artificial materials such as polyamide and polypropylene. Each of them is responsible for a different property of thermoactive clothing. The first will be used to maintain optimal body heat, and the second to drain the sweat produced. We can also find products that have been enriched using silver ions. In this way all unpleasant smells are eliminated. At the same time, they are bactericidal. Thermoactive underwear can be called a second skin because it must adhere tightly to our body in order for it to work effectively.

The main types of thermoactive underwear

Lightweight thermoactive underwear is the first layer of sportswear that will work especially in the summer. Its main task is to let our skin breathe freely and solve the problem of sweat. It works not only at the gym, but also for runners. It is very thin and does not warm the body at all. Usually we can meet her in the form of a short-sleeved T-shirt and shorts or possibly gaiters. A much more universal choice is the so-called medium thermoactive underwear. Works great in winter as well as in summer. We can put it directly on the skin or like a second layer applied to lightweight underwear. It all depends on the season and weather. These are primarily long sleeve shirts and thermoactive leggings. In contrast, thick thermoactive underwear is used only in the winter and offers a heat retention function. It still prevents the effects of sweating because it effectively wicks moisture away.

What to consider when choosing thermoactive underwear?

The first thing to look out for is its size. This is very important, because for thermoactive underwear to function properly, it must be perfectly fitted to our body. Otherwise, it is not able to effectively sweat wicking away. At the same time, we must ensure that the underwear we choose does not restrict our movements. Then look at the quality and grade of the material from which the garment was made. A blend of elastane and polyester will provide a quick drying effect. If you intend to apply a given thermoactive underwear directly to our skin, it is worth buying a model that also contains an admixture of polyamide. By maintaining the right proportions of individual materials we will get high-quality clothing for sports. In this case, we also need to take care of the seamless nature of the underwear. It’s also a good idea to check whether your product also contains material with bacteriostatic properties. In this way, we will not have to worry about any unpleasant odors arising during intense physical activity. If you are interested in thick thermoactive underwear, you should consider buying a model equipped with a zipper. It will make it much easier for us to put on and take off this piece of clothing.
